I am no longer a Lime Crime lipstick virgin after I picked up their Alchemy Collection which consisted of a delightful eyeshadow palette (see swatches here) and these two STUNNING lipsticks, beautifully named Poisonberry and Serpentina.
The packaging of the Lime Crime lipsticks is spangly unicorn fun! But if I had a large collection of Lime Crime lipsticks (*dreaming*), I would have trouble distinguishing them because they all look the same unless you look at the base for the name.
Both Poisonberry and Serpentina are of a satin finish – my fave finish!
BE WARNED : I was having a bad lip day when I swatched these so my lip wrinkles and flakies are VERY obvious! Plus the fact that I used my super sensitive DSLR which picks up every little detail. Yes, that’s right! You will soon see that there is green lipstick on my teeth! Pretend you can’t see it.
Lime Crime Poisonberry Lipstick Swatch
Lime Crime Poisonberry is a vibrant warm violet berry shade which I just INSTANTLY fell in love with.
Lime Crime Serpentine Lipstick Swatch
Lime Crime Serpentina is an emerald green shade which is just DIVINE! I have nothing even similar in my vast lipstick collection and I foresee a lip art video with it! It did, however, make me look even more yellow than my yellow Asian skin!!!
Long time no lip swatch!!! But that’s because 2 weeks ago, I had a little accident whilst swatching a Clinique Chubby Stick for THIS BLOG! You may have read all about it on my main beauty blog but if not, here is the { link }. Anyway, I was MIA for a few days with a raging headache which meant I missed Lip Stalker’s 1st year bloggaversary on the 1st of November. Oh well, there’s always next year
Meanwhile, I have prepared a sparkly new lip art video for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy Pretty Pink Glitter Lips and I will get back to regular lip swatching real soon.
Other make-up products featured are : Blue Face Glitter in #110 (I bought this at IMATS 2012 along with a lot of other goodies as shown in my haul but I googled it and can’t find anything on this label. Oh great! What if it wasn’t cosmetic grade glitter I applied on my lips?? YIKES! Oh well, it’s okay…glitter was pouring out all my orifices for days on end LOL!!!!)
Let me know what you lip art video you would like to see next! *mwah*
With Halloween around the corner, I thought it was highly appropriate to do a Sexy Zombie Lips Lip Art video. This time last year, I was putting the finishing touches to launch LipStalker.com (which means our 1st year bloggaversary is coming up! Woohoo!) and surprisingly, people seem to love the Lip Stalker YouTube channel more than they love my blog. Every day, I get messages to tell me to do more lip videos!!! Wow, thanks peeps! It means a lot to me!!! Anyway, sorry for rambling and onto the video…
Lip products featured are : Mary Kay Satin Lips Lip Balm, Rimmel London Lasting Finish By Kate Lipstick in #11 (woah, that’s a long name!)
Other make-up products featured are : Rimmel London Wake Me Up Foundation in 200 Soft Beige, Rimmel London Glam’Eyes HD Quad Eye Shadow in 008 True Union Jack, Rimmel London Wake Me Up Instant Radiance Shimmer Touch in 002 Radiant Rose
Note to Rimmel London Product Namer, please make the product names short and sweet please!
Disclaimer : You may notice a lot of Rimmel London products in this post – and that’s because I won the Beauty Heaven Blog Star Award and they sent me the swag to make my monthly video – but I am not compensated in any way.
I love the formulation of the Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Supreme Shine Lipstick range as they are so comfortable to wear – very lightweight on lips.
At first, I liked the test-tube plastic cap packaging…but then I have somehow got lipstick smeared on the insides of the top end of the cap and it’s impossible to clean it unless I get a test-tube brush cleaner thingy.
When swatched, BG 957 appears to be a shiny sheer red with brown undertones. But on my lips, it is a different story…
The colour of my natural lips must have somehow neutralised the redness of BG 957 and it appears like my lips but better. This makes Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Supreme Shine Lipstick BG 957 a very work-friendly, everyday neutral lip shade for me.
Have you tried any of the Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Supreme Shine Lipsticks? What is your favourite shade? If only, SU would give them names instead of numbers…
Illamasqua Apocalips Lipstick is definitely not for the faint-hearted. Blue lipsticks are not part of my everyday looks…but this is coming from the girl who ACTUALLY WORE BLUE LIPSTICK for her final year dance (prom) at High School. Yes I did. And no guys asked me to dance!
Anyway, what else can I say about Illamasqua Apocalips apart from the blatant fact that it is blue? It’s not true blue but more of a teal-ish kinda blue. The matte-ness makes this slightly difficult to wear as the formula is a tad dry and it highlights every little lip wrinkle. My Husband also refused to kiss me…but then again, he doesn’t like it when I wear red lipstick either! Weird man!
*Illamasqua Apocalips Lipstick was a PR sample and you may remember seeing it on this lip art video.
I was sent the SkinMedica TNS Lip Plump System to review and you may remember seeing it in my Teal Temptation Lips video. Even though I have thick full lips, I still like to use lip plumpers on many occasions to make my lips all plump and juicy, which then irons out the lip wrinkles, prior to lipstick application.
SkinMedica TNS Lip Plump System is a 2 step process :-
Step 1 : TNS Lip Renewal – this a lovely light moisturising lip cream which leaves a non-sticky film behind and helps condition my lips
Step 2 : TNS Lip Plumper – this is a clear gel which has a slight chemical smell (which I can’t quite put my finger on where I know it) and it feels slightly tingly for around 60 seconds as the plumping effect takes place. The tingling sensation on my lips reminds me of the times when I add too much chilli oil to my noodles. (oooh, noodles!!!)
Have a look at the photos of my lips before and after using SkinMedica TNS Lip Plump System
Normal : My lips look dry and cracked After Step 1 : My lips look smoother and has more even colour (but the lighting is slightly different) After Step 2 : My lips look juicer and the lines are less pronounced and slightly more redness (I am guessing that there is some ingredient there which plumps up the lips because it goes all tingly and attracts more blood flow)
The plumping effect isn’t long-lasting on me and wears off after an hour. As I already have rather full lips, it isn’t a must-have for me but I can see how it would be perfect for the ladies who are not so blessed in the big lips department.
SkinMedica TNS Lip Plump System
Perfect for ladies who are after Angelina Jolie bee-stung lips, i.e. fuller, juicier lips; without the use of needles.
The other day I rocked up at my local MAC counter in my post-gym sweaty workout gear sans make-up. I was dying to buy my first ever MAC red lipstick and I had decided that it would be from the MAC Marilyn Monroe collection which has just been released. There were only 4 of the MAC Marilyn Monroe lipsticks on display so I swatched them on the back of my hand :-
Deeply Adored (matte) – vampy deep blue red (altho the lipstick bullet looks more plum)
Charmed, I’m Sure (matte) – also a blue-based red (very similar to Sisley Rouge Passion)
Love Goddess (satin) – vibrant pink, almost fuchsia
Scarlet Ibis (matte) – bright orange-based red
Pure Zen – which was not available to swatch – is a rosy beige according to Temptalia
I’m a satin lippy kinda gal because I like making my lips look juicy. But I umm-ed and ahh-ed to myself and decided that I would buy Deeply Adored because you can do so much more with a darker lipstick – but after no-one served me after waiting there for a good solid 15 minutes, I upped and left.
There are 2 things I want to say :-
MAC SA’s ( = sales assistants) have a really bad rep for giving bad customer service – and I hate to say this so publicly on my blog but it’s true. Le sigh.
The MAC Marilyn Monroe lipsticks cost $38 AUD in Australia but only cost $16.50 USD in USA!!! Totally not fair!!!
Have you bought anything from the MAC Marilyn Monroe collection? Which lippy shade do you like the most? And do your local MAC SA’s ignore you too?
Hello there! Yes, your favourite stalker, Lip Stalker, is indeed still alive and kicking! What happened? I lost my lipstick loving mojo for a couple of months. [ Long story => I blame it on my hairy upper lip. I used a hair removal cream on it and it stung like a mofo to the point I shed tears and afterwards, not only did I have a hairy upper lip but it was enhanced by a 'tache rash too! Not cool! Now the rash has calmed down but I have a 'tache - I'm growing it for Movember ] Cheekiness (and hairy-ness) aside, let’s take a look at this awesome foursome of Karen Murrell Lipsticks.
Who is Karen Murrell?? A New Zealander who has created a certified organic skincare ranges and natural lipsticks. Best to check out the website if you want more info : http://www.karenmurrell.com
And uh…I can’t find the lipsticks I reviewed on the website so I am not entirely sure if they have been discontinued or getting rebranded or waiting to be released…oops! I actually got sent these eons ago so I do apologise if you’re reading this Karen!
Lip Stalker Likes
Whenever I wear 07 Fuchsia Shock and 08 Coral Dawn, the compliments are never-ending and I always get asked where to buy it.
The lipsticks are ever-so-slightly tingly and have a cinnamon-y smell (I like that spiciness about it!)
Satin finish – I prefer this to matte finishes
Doesn’t dry out my lips due to its moisturising ingredients like avocado oil and shea butter
They are made totally of natural ingredients and do not contain any mineral oils, animal-based material, parabens or preservatives.
Lip Stalker Dislikes
Not easily available to purchase in Australia
Cannot distinguish what colour it is unless you store it upside down to show the label but I am OCD-ish and I don’t like storing things upside down
Of course you can see what the lipsticks look like on my lips! I have FOUR lippylicious Karen Murrel Lipstick lip swatches waiting for you…one day at a time Same time, same place tomorrow!
