Jurlique Lip Balm review, Jurlique lip care

This Winter, I have said bye bye to sore, cracked lips and it’s all thanks to Jurlique for sending me their Lip Care Balm.

Jurlique Lip Care Balm is a yellow, non-sticky, thick conditioning balm which is enriched with castor oil, shea butter and macadamia oil.  Admittedly, it does look rather intimidating because it’s gunky yellow colour but don’t let that deter you because it works wonders in restoring moisture to dry lips.  I like to put a big dollop on my lips before sleeping to keep them moisturised through the night as the heating in the house during Winter can dry my lips out big time.  It took me 3 nights of application before I got the super-soft lips.

At first, I did have my tube of Jurlique Lip Care Balm in my handbag to reapply during the day, but then I realised that I was going through this tube of lip-saving goodness too fast and because it isn’t exactly cheap at $32 (ouch!), I have moved it from my handbag to my bedside table so I will only use it once a day.

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter is a hybrid of lip balm and lipstick.  The beauty blogosphere has been buzzing about Revlon Lip Butters so when I saw them in Hong Kong last month, I needed to see what the hype was all about.  I swatched the 10 available shades in Hong Kong and chose 2 to come home with me – Macaroon 096 and Pink Truffle 001.  I had already picked Lollipop prior to swatching, but was sad to see that this shade wasn’t available.  Revlon Lip Butters are not yet released in Australia but that’s what ebay is for.

(UPDATE : Check out my Revlon Lip Butter swatches of Cotton Candy, Lollipop, Sweet Tart, Tutti Frutti and Peach Parfait)

Packaging : 5/10
Because my brain is bamboozled by this lipstick and lip balm hybrid, I cannot decide whether I like the packaging or not.  I mean, it’s not luxe but it’s not el cheapo.  I have to sit on the fence for this one.

Shade : 8/10
I wonder why they named this shade Macaroon because it doesn’t remind me of macaroons nor macarons…but it’s a semi-sheer maroon shade with gold microshimmer.  It adds a nice pop of colour on lips without being an attention-seeking red lippy.  It’s definitely suitable for all occasions.

Scent/Taste : 9/10
There is a faint vanilla scent when I put it right near my nasal passages and sniff it; but otherwise, I can’t detect it.

Formula : 6.5/10
I had read a number of reviews about how these Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters weren’t that hydrating and buttery smooth so I was well prepped – in terms of expectation but also with priming lips prior to application.  Definitely not suitable when my lips are flaking out!

For my lips, I need 3-4 swipes before I am happy with the colour uniformity as it applies rather patchy-like.  But good thing is that it can be applied directly from the tube and it doesn’t bleed.

Performance : 7/10
Staying power isn’t the greatest but then again, I’ve been eating a lot of snacks these days and drinking lots of iced green tea so that doesn’t help.  It fades quite well.

Total = 35.5 /50

Honestly speaking, I don’t see what the big fuss is all about with Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters.  As a lip balm, it doesn’t work very well because it doesn’t heal my cracked lips and can actually dry out my lips if I wear it without primer.  As a lipstick, it needs to improve it’s formula so that I don’t have to swipe multiple times to achieve colour uniformity.

But nevertheless, I am rather fond of this Macaroon shade with its enticing gold microshimmer.  Do I regret not buying a few more shades?  Nah, not really!

Introducing Lip Stalker’s Review On Sukin Nourishing Lip Treatment…

Made with natural ingredients including cocoa butter, shea butter and jojoba oil, my lips were pleasantly surprised by its ability to restore moisture to my dry flaky lips.

I am not a fan of Vaseline on my lips and let me assure you that it is way superior!!  (Sorry Vaseline lovers!)

It’s one of my favourites to use under matte lipsticks.

Non-Aussie readers will be disappointed after reading this lip balm review because endota spa is only available in Australia!

lip balm review, lip blog

Seriously, this endota spa lip balm is one of the best lip balms I have EVER tried!  My lips have been getting a lot of action lately (from swatching!) and they were cracked and my vertical lip lines were angry and deep.  One afternoon, I cracked (pun intended) open this baby and applied this and re-applied 2 hours later.  After I showered in the evening and sat down to dry my hair, I realised my lips were feeling nice and soft…and it was all because of endota spa organic lip balm in cinnamon & honey.

The cinnamon provides an initial 10-second kick and plumps up the lips – which would explain how it helped with filling out my deep vertical lip lines.  The certified organic honey provides nourishment and soothes cracked lips.  Altogether with the hygienic slanted tip applicator makes a winning lip balm.

It’s a tad pricey at $17 AUD, but it’s a high quality organic lip product which works wonders on dry, cracked lips.  Is it my Holy Grail lip balm…?  For now, yes, yes, yes!!

Over to you.  What’s your HG lip balm?

Lip Stalker’s Review On Dr Roebuck’s LIPS…

Dr Roebuck's review

Formulated with beeswax and essential oils with no parabens, Dr Roebuck’s LIPS is a lovely pot of goodness for your lips.  Lips feel softer in the morning when applied before my daily slumber.  The scent is so faint that I can’t quite detect what it is and according to my taste buds, it tastes like a light olive oil dressing.  As with all pots of lip balms, make sure your finger and fingernail are both clean before dipping in and definitely avoid double-dipping.  Lip Stalker prefers tubed lip treatments to prevent finger contamination.

Introducing Carmex Moisture Plus Ultra Hydrating Lip Balm in Clear…

Carmex lip balm review

Lip Stalker simply adores the sexy sleek packaging of this lip balm.  Can be used to prime lips before lipstick, but I love wearing it alone with its pretty satin gloss finish.  Nourishes my lips well and you;ll experience a slight tingle from the menthol, plus it has an added bonus of sunscreen SPF 15.  Ingredients include shea butter, avocado butter and vitamin E and there is a mild vanilla scent.  Definitely one of my newfound favourites.
